Ingredients

  • For the Cream Cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (generally 1 bar per 8 oz)

  • 3-4 fresh scallions (green onions), finely chopped

  • salt and black pepper, to taste

  • For Topping Purposes
  • 1/8 cup everything bagel seasoning

  • 1-2 tbsp fresh herbs (chopped chives, parsley, basil)

  • 1 clove fresh garlic, minced

Directions

  •  Soften the Cream Cheese
    Start by letting the cream cheese sit at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes, or until it’s soft and spreadable. This step is crucial because it makes mixing much easier and ensures that the scallions incorporate evenly into the cream cheese.
  • Chop the Scallions
    While the cream cheese is softening, wash and finely chop the scallions. Both the white and green parts of the scallions can be used, depending on your taste preference. The white part has a stronger onion flavor, while the green part is milder and adds a nice pop of color to the cream cheese.
  • Mix the Ingredients
    In a medium-sized bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and chopped scallions. Use a fork or a spatula to mix until the scallions are evenly distributed throughout the cream cheese. If you prefer a smoother, slightly thinner consistency, add a tablespoon or two of milk or cream and mix again.
